United States Magistrate Judge Keri L. Holleb Hotaling took her oath of office on August 10, 2023.
Judge Holleb Hotaling received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Allegheny College where she double majored in Political Science and Environmental Studies and graduated magna cum laude and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Judge Holleb Hotaling received her Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law, where she was an editor of the Virginia Environmental Law Journal.
Immediately after law school, Judge Holleb Hotaling joined Jenner & Block LLP in Chicago as an associate. Early in her legal career, Judge Holleb Hotaling served as a law clerk to Judge Philip P. Simon, United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana.
After clerking, Judge Holleb Hotaling returned to Jenner & Block, where she worked as an associate and then partner. During her career in private practice, Judge Holleb Hotaling represented clients in federal and state courts around the country and specialized in complex commercial litigation, while also always maintaining a significant pro bono practice.
Immediately prior to joining the bench, Judge Holleb Hotaling served as Assistant Deputy Attorney General for Civil Litigation in the Office of the Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul.
Active in the community, Judge Holleb Hotaling serves as a member of the Board of Directors for YWCA Evanston/North Shore. Judge Holleb Hotaling also is a fellow of Leadership Greater Chicago and previously served as the North Suburban Cook County Director for Metra and on the Board of Directors for the Chicago Foundation for Women.
