General Rules 3.00 To 3.09 Rules Relating To Admission To Practice


Rule 3.02 Admission Fees; District Court Fund *

A. Fee for Admission to the Bar

Each petitioner shall pay an admission fee upon the filing of the petition, provided that in the event the petitioner is not admitted, the petitioner may request that the fee be refunded. The amount of the fee shall be as follows:

(1) For admission to the general bar of the Court: The amount of the fee prescribed by the Judicial Conference of the United States pursuant to 28 U.S.C. §1914 ($50.00) and an additional fee of fifty dollars.

(2) For admission to the trial bar of the Court: a fee of fifty dollars.

The Clerk shall deposit the additional fifty dollar fee required for admission to the bar and the fifty dollar fee required for admission to the trial bar in the District Court Fund. The Court waives either of the fees payable to the District Court Fund if at the time the petition for admission is filed the petitioner is a law clerk to a circuit, district, magistrate or bankruptcy judge or staff attorney of any federal court of the Seventh Circuit.

B. The District Court Fund

The Clerk shall be the trustee of the District Court Fund. Monies deposited in the Fund shall be used only for the benefit of the bench and bar in the administration of justice. All withdrawals from the fund shall require the approval of the Chief Judge or a judge designated by him/her.
