Although Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 55 permits a party to seek a default with the Clerk of the Court in the first instance, Judge Hunt requires all motions for entry of default or default judgment to be noticed for presentment on her calendar. In addition, parties should be prepared to prove up damages either by affidavit or at a hearing.
