Initial Status - Civil
- General. I will schedule an initial status hearing approximately sixty days from the filing of the complaint. The parties should be prepared to discuss the basis for federal jurisdiction, the nature of the case, which includes the principal legal and factual issues involved in the case, and whether all parties have been served. I no longer require an initial status report.
- Referral. I anticipate referring most cases to the assigned magistrate judge for all pretrial matters (excluding motions for injunctive relief, for judgment on the pleadings, for summary judgment, to dismiss or to permit maintenance of a class action, to dismiss for failure to state a claim upon which relief can be granted, and to involuntarily dismiss an action). Accordingly, I encourage the parties to review the assigned magistrate judge’s pretrial case procedures.
