United States District Court - Northern District of Illinois

General Rules

RULES 1.00 To 1.09 ORGANIZATION OF THE COURT

Rule 1.06 Division Of Administrative Responsibilities

A. Liaison Judges

The administrative business of the Court will usually be accomplished through liaison judges rather than standing committees. The Chief Judge shall make the assignments of liaison judges, who shall serve until such time as the Chief Judge designates a successor.

B. Duties of Liaison Judges

Each liaison judge shall be responsible for maintaining effective liaison with the Departments or Agencies or areas of special concern that constitute the administrative area to which the judge was assigned. Each liaison judge shall file a written report with the secretary of the Court on or about the date of the September meeting of the full Court each year. The report will summarize the activities of the administrative area concerned during the previous year and make any recommendations for actions on the part of the Court that the liaison judge deems necessary.

C. Administrative Areas

From time to time the Chief Judge after consulting the full Court will cause to be published an order listing the administrative areas to which liaison judges are to be assigned and any standing committees of the Court other than the Executive Committee. Such order will also indicate the names of the judges designated by the Chief Judge as liaison judges for each of the administrative areas pursuant to section A of this Rule and the names of the members of any standing committee.
