United States District Court
Northern District Of Illinois
Local Criminal Rules
LCrR57.1. Attorneys: Filing Appearances
Each attorney representing a defendant in a criminal proceeding shall file an
appearance. The appearance must be filed prior to or simultaneously with the
filing of any motion, brief or other document or at the initial court appearance,
whichever occurs first. A copy of the appearance shall be served on the United
States attorney.
The filing of an appearance in a pre-indictment proceeding does not relieve an
attorney from filing an appearance in a subsequent proceeding should an
indictment be returned or an information filed against the defendant. A copy of the
appearance in the subsequent proceedings shall also be served on the United
States attorney.
The appearance shall be on the form prescribed by LR83.16.
