Mandatory Initial Discovery Pilot Program

Judge Shah is participating in the Mandatory Initial Discovery Pilot Program. All counsel must familiarize themselves with the Standing Order and Checklist for the program. Training materials are available on the Mandatory Initial Discovery Pilot Project page on the court's website. The following cases are exempt from the pilot program: (1) cases exempted by Rule 26(a)(1)(B), (2) actions under the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act, (3) patent cases governed by a local rule, (4) cases transferred for consolidated administration in the District by the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation, and (5) pro se prisoner cases. All other civil cases are subject to the pilot program and the parties may not opt out.
