Judge Kendall's Case Procedures

Law Clerk Hiring

Judge Kendall prefers law clerks who have at least two years of work experience before they clerk.

Judge Kendall is accepting applications for openings in January 2028 and Fall 2028.

Judge Kendall does not use the OSCAR system. Applications should be sent in a single email to Samantha_Ortiz@ilnd.uscourts.gov, Darby_Hopper@ilnd.uscourts.gov, Sarah_Gleason@ilnd.uscourts.gov, and Nicholas_Ronaldson@ilnd.uscourts.gov. Chambers prefers that applications be sent in a single PDF comprising a cover letter, transcript, resume, writing sample, list of references, and two letters of recommendation. Alternatively, applicants may send an email with a PDF containing everything except the letters of recommendation, which can then be emailed separately by the writers themselves or by a school’s clerkships office. Judge Kendall no longer requests applications by physical mail.
