1. Who do I contact to check the status of my outstanding criminal debt liability (assessment, restitution or fine)?
Answer: Please contact the U.S. Attorney’s Office (Financial Litigation Unit) at 312-469-6298 or you can e-mail them at USAILN.CLERKSINQUIRIES@usdoj.gov. The case number and name of the defendant is required.

2. My case is closed and I am trying to get a statement that I have satisfied my financial obligations. Who do I contact?
Answer: Please contact the U.S. Attorney’s Office (Financial Litigation Unit) at 312-469- 6298 or you can e-mail them at USAILN.CLERKSINQUIRIES@usdoj.gov.

3. I just received a restitution check and need more information about the check. Who do I contact?
Answer: A Financial Specialist in the Clerk’s Office (312-435-6066) can inform you of the defendant’s name who remitted the funds. For other detailed information about the case, please contact the US Attorney’s Office (Financial Litigation Unit) at 312-469-6298.

4. When may I expect to receive my next restitution payment?
Answer: The Financial Litigation Unit of the US Attorney’s Office is responsible for doing asset searches and enforcing judgement amounts. As funds are received in the clerk’s Office relating to restitution, they are forwarded to the victims.

5. Does the Clerk’s Office accept credit card payments over the phone?
Answer: The Clerk’s Office does not accept credit card payments over the phone. However, credit card payments are accepted in person at the Clerk’s Office or through Pay.gov. Credit cards are not accepted for criminal debt.

6. How do I check the status of Prisoner Litigation (PL) cases?

7. How do I find out the status of my CJA payment?
Answer: Please contact the Financial Department at 312-435-6066 or at Fiscal_ILND@ilnd.uscourts.gov. The case number and name of the defendant is required.

8. Where can I go to get information on CJA (rules, forms, worksheets, hourly rates, mileage reimbursement, etc.)?

9. How do I find out if funds are on deposit with the Clerk’s Office regarding civil or criminal cases?

10. How do I get funds on deposit released from the Clerk’s Office?
Answer: A court order is required to disburse funds.

11. How do I get non-cash collateral items released from the Clerk’s Office?
Answer: A court order is required to release collateral.

12. Who do I contact about the status of a ticket that I have received on Federal property?
Answer: Please contact the Financial Department at 312-435-6066.

13. Where do I send payment for a ticket received on Federal property?
Answer: You can pay your ticket online at www.cvb.uscourts.gov or send a money order or cashiers check payable to Clerk, US District Court, at 219 S. Dearborn, Chicago, IL 60604. Please include your name and ticket number on the check.

14. How do I find out the status of an invoice I submitted to the Clerk’s Office?
Answer: Please contact the Procurement Department at 312-435-5553.
