Settlement Conferences

This Court urges parties to undertake settlement negotiations at the earliest practicable point in the litigation. Parties who desire a settlement conference should request one in open court or by telephone from the courtroom deputy. In bench trials, settlement conferences are usually referred to the magistrate judge.

Prior to a settlement conference with Judge Coleman, please submit either a joint or individual statement to the Courtroom Deputy (Room 1428) briefly describing the status and potential for settlement, including any offers or demands that have been made.  Persons with settlement authority must be present in-person or available by phone.
