Motions to Appear Pro Hac Vice

Motions by attorneys who are not members of this Court's bar seeking leave to appear pro hac vice are now filed and processed electronically, rather than by submitting a paper application. The application is available on the Court's main web site.

Local Rule 5.3(b) requires that all motions be noticed for presentment in open court. Even though motions for leave to appear pro hac vice have not historically been noticed for presentment, the change to electronic filing necessitates use of a mechanism to bring such motions to the judge's attention. Otherwise, the motion may languish without being ruled upon.

For this reason, Judge Kennelly requires that all motions for leave to appear pro hac vice be noticed for presentment in open court, in conformity with Local Rule 5.3(b). No actual court appearance will be required, except in unusual circumstances; the purpose of the noticing requirement is to ensure that the motion is brought to Judge Kennelly's attention.

Any motion for leave to appear pro hac vice that is not noticed for presentment in conformity with Local Rule 5.3(b) is subject to being stricken.
